In the news
Our own Lucy Murphy is featured in the December 2024 of the NSCA publication, Clay Target Nation. It was nice to see her journey from 4H to today. She acknowledged the help she received from her parents and people like E.J. Cavalier. On the range you can watch her enjoy not only the main but all the side events. We wish her success in all her future endeavors.
2024 Year End Recap
2024 was a good year for the LSCA. We had several notable events during the year.
1. Website refresh. Scott Doucet updated our LSCA website that added several new features. John Ballance arranged the LSCA logo merchandise sales feature.
2. Greenbacks & Buckles Race. The June to December race results are being shown real time on our LSCA website. Winners will be announced in the January Newsletter.
3. Louisiana National Delegates elected for the 2025/2026 term.

In the Works for 2025
1. LSCA Raffle. A licensed Louisiana Gaming Commission raffle with the proceeds to be utilized for LSCA program enhancements. Gary Littlefield is working through the red tape to start the raffle in early 2025.
2. Shooting Vest Giveaway. Planned for early 2025, a vest will be given to a person in each concurrent classification. A random draw of people who attended registered shoots will be held and the winners will be given a LSCA logo Barepelt vest. Attendance chances earned will be posted on the LSCA website (so the more LSCA events you shoot the better the chance to win a new vest.) Details will be posted later.
NSCA Year End Review
The NSCA Executive Council has created an excellent program for those people who want to challenge themselves to become highly competitive. These individuals are characterized as having great natural abilities and consistently finishing in the top tier of every event they enter. If this person does not meet the stringent (highly competitive) Executive Council criteria, the year end review will automatically down class you so you have the opportunity to work your way back up in the class.
However, many of our members are casual competitors that simply enjoy the competition and fellowship. They are perfectly happy to stay in their current class. If you are happy in your class and you are caught in the Down Class you SHOULD REFUSE THE DOWN CLASS (Notify the NSCA by phone, email or mail of your decision to not accept the down class). Remember, having fun in a competitive environment and enjoying the hospitality of the Club with your friends is the goal of many shooters.
NSCA Scholarship
Don't forget that the NSCA is offering $5,000 scholarships to worthy NSCA youths. Details are on the NSCA website.
Final Note
2024 has been a fun year to be the President of the LSCA. The LSCA Officers and Executive Committee work well together and everyone has the best interest of the Association as the number one priority. We are also blessed with excellent member Clubs that offer us an opportunity to enjoy our sport.
I want to wish each and every member a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
